This presentation concerns with two issues in plasticity theory and its application to  l forming. 

     1.  Ideal flow theory

    The original ideal flow theory provides a class of solutions in the classical theory of plasticity  d on Tresca’s yield criterion without hardening and its associated flow rule. They are defined by the condition that all material elements follow the minimum plastic work path, a condition which is believed to be advantageous for forming processes. Thus, the ideal flow theory has been proposed as the basis of procedures for the direct preliminary design of forming processes, which mainly involve plastic deformation. The theory has been extended to planar flow of anisotropic and pressure-dependent materials. Also, a damage mechanics equation has been included in the theory.

    2.  Generation of fine grain  s in the vicinity of friction interfaces in  l forming

    The temperature of the  l rises during plastic deformation because of the heat generated by mechanical work. This presentation deals with the effect of singular velocity fields on the temperature rise within a narrow   in the vicinity of frictional interfaces. This research is motivated by numerous experimental observations that demonstrate that a narrow   with drastically modified microstructure is generated near such interfaces. This   is usually called white   in papers. Two of the main contributory mechanisms responsible for white   generation are: (a) the mechanism of rapid heating and quenching and (b) the mechanism of intensive plastic deformation. The latter can be described by means of the strain rate intensity factor. It controls the magnitude of the equivalent strain rate in its vicinity, affects the distribution of temperature in the vicinity of frictional interfaces and the generation of white  /fine grain   under thermally dominant conditions.

主讲人简介:

    Sergei Alexandrov is a research professor at the Institute for Problems of Mechanics of Russian Academy of Science (Moscow, Russia) and a visiting professor at Beihang University (Beijing, China) under the sub-programs of the “Recruitment Program for Global Experts” (the “1000 Talent Plan”). He received his PhD in Physics and Mathematics in 1990 and DSc in Physics and Mathematics in 1994. He worked as a professor at Moscow Aviation Technology Technical University (Russia), a visiting scientist at ALCOA Technical Center (USA), GKSS Research Centre (Germany), Seoul National University (South Korea) and National Chung Cheng University (Taiwan), and a visiting professor at National San Yat Sen University (Taiwan) and University of Franche-Comte (France). His research areas are plasticity theory, fracture mechanics and their applications to  l forming and structural mechanics. He is a member of the Russian National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Prof. Sergei Alexandrov has published four books and more than 220 papers included in SCI.
